Alliance Leveling GuidePart 1 Northshire Valley Human Starting Grounds I chose a Human for my race of choice; I much prefer the lush green starting area of Elwynn Forest to the snow filled Coldridge Valley. If you chose to play a Gnome [1] A Threat Within When you enter the world as a freshly created Human, your first quest will literally be starting you in the face. Deputy Willem will be directly in front of you, and after conversing, will direct you to Marshal McBride, whom you will find just inside the building. [2] Kobold Camp Cleanup [2] Wolves Across the Border Once you have seen Marshal McBride inside the Abbey, head out and turn to your right. Follow the Abbey wall around and you will come across Eagan Peltskinner, he would like you to kill some wolves. From there, if you turn around 180 degrees, you can t miss the wolves. To the right of the wolves you will find the Kobolds, you want the Vermin, not the Workers. If you re playing a Warlock, you will most likely want to find your trainers and collect your Imp quest. One of the things that differs between the Undead Warlocks and the Human ones, is Undead can pretty much get their Imp at level one Humans have it a little more difficult. To find your trainers, stand facing the steps of the building near where you entered the world, follow it around to the east (or turn right and follow the wall). Run past the White Stallion and into the graveyard beside it, there you will see three people standing at the back. The man on the far left is Meritt Herrion and he gives you the quest to obtain your Imp. The man on the far right is Dane Winslow and after you complete the quest and receive your imp (along with level 5) you can see him about training your beloved first pet up with some added bonuses, speak to him earlier than that and he kindly tells you to ''Buzz Off''. The woman in the middle however, is the one you re interested in at this time her name is Druzille La Selle and she is your trainer and can help you with new spells. If you need help completing your Imp quest, please see the guide at The Warlocks Den here. [3] Investigate Echo Ridge After you hand in Kobold Camp Cleanup, you need to head back out to the Kobolds and this time, kill the Workers. They occupy the camps scattered around, but if you are having trouble finding them, head closer to the Mine. Once you have killed your 10, return to Marshal McBride. [4] Skirmish at Echo Ridge You will find the Kobold Laborers inside the Echo Ridge Mine. Again I notice a difference between Horde and Alliance the Laborers in this mine still con Yellow, all the way to the end. On the Horde side, the same type of cave would have red con aggressive mobs. Because of this though, Humans have the ability to run all the way to the end to look for a chest! Awesome! [4] Brotherhood of Thieves After you gain a couple of levels, Deputy Willem, the man you saw when you first entered the zone, will give you a quest to rip the bandanas from the Defias. If you head South-East from the Abbey, you will come across a small stream. There is a bridge that will keep you from getting wet, or you can run across the shallow water. On the other side, you will find your Defias. [4] Milly Osworth After you hand in your bandanas and collect the weapon of your choosing, you are sent to speak with Milly Osworth (as well as requested to collect the head of Garrick Padfoot). If you follow the outer wall of the Abbey around to the other side, you will find Milly standing beside a cart. [4] Milly''s Harvest You will find the crates of Milly s Harvest scattered around the Northshire Vinyard, where you were just killing Defias. You are looking for lootable barrels.
Just west of the Vineyard you will find Garrick Padfoot and his not so friendly sidekick. They are found standing in front of what looks to be an out door toilet, or perhaps a very cozy hut. You will get both when you pull them, so be prepared, although they are very easy to kill. Once you have collected Milly s Harvest and Garrick s Head, make your way back to the Abbey to hand in. After handing in Milly s Harvest, you are directed to Brother Neals, you will find him at the very top of the Abbey. [5] Report to Goldshire [5] Rest and Relaxation You are now done with Northshire Valley, booyah! Make your way south through the passage way and follow the path all the way to Goldshire! Don t forget to grab the delivery quest on your way through Part 2 Goldshire If you ve left the newbie area and followed the path, you can t miss Goldshire; the path leads right too it. Here you will find an Inn to rest at and bind yourself to, most class trainers and a couple of profession ones. You will also find quests! [7] The Fargodeep Mine This quest will become available to you after you hand in Marshal McBride''s Documents for the Report to Goldshire quest. Before you run off though, be sure to see Remy Two Times located at the end of the path you are on, and William Pestle who is located inside the Goldshire Inn [7] Gold Dust Exchange [7] Kobold Candles All three of these quests are completed in the same mine, located straight North of Goldshire. Getting there is easy, face Remy Two Times and run directly North. You will go over a dirt patch, or if the fair is in town, weave your way through the caravans. You should now be relatively close to a small cliff face, although I m not sure it can be called a cliff, I can t see you needing rock climbing gear to get back up. Anyway, you should be able to see a large hill straight in front of you, that is the hill the mine delves into. Before we go running into the mine though, let s head off to your right to The Stonefield Farm and collect a couple more quests. [6] Lost Necklace The reason for the slight detour is there is a quest line that will also involve entering the Fargodeep Mine, and you can complete it at the same time as the above three. To find Billy, face south-east (more east than south) and run to the farm located on the other side of the mine; The Maclure Vineyard. [6] Pie for Billy You will find Billy standing outside the bard at The Maclure Vineyard and he will feign any knowledge of a missing necklace that is until you mention pie. To get him to talk, kill the boars roaming around both farms until you collect 4 pieces of meat and head back over to Auntie Bernice to convert it into a pie. Note: These boars can sometimes be a pain in the posterior in dropping the meat! [6] Young Lovers While you are at the farm, head into the small hut and see Maybell. Hold onto her letter until we go back to see Auntie Bernice as Tommy is not far. You can also pick up Princess Must Die! when you get back to Auntie Bernice (if you ve dinged level 6) as we can do that later. Hand in the boar meat and collect your pie. Before heading back to Billy though, face west and run across the farm to the river, there you will find Tommy. [6] Speak with Gramma After you have handed in the letter from Maybell Maclure, Tommy asks you to speak to Gramma back at the Stonefield farm, she will help. You will find Gramma Stonefield inside the small hut that Auntie Bernice stands out the front of. [8] Goldtooth Goldtooth is the mob that you will find inside the Fargodeep Mine, so now we re ready to head in. There are two entrances into the mine and if you are standing on the slope that leads down, between to the two farms, you should be able to see both of them. The easiest route (I find) is to take the one on the right, the higher entrance. So head up the slope, be aware there will be a couple of mobs just inside the entrance. Once inside, you want to turn right and follow the tunnel around. You will come into a large open room, and if you take the closest left, at the bend at the end you will find Goldtooth. When pulled, Goldtooth will usually come with one friend, but if you put your DoT s (if playing a Warlock) on both, you should have little trouble. If playing during a populated time of the day, you may even find other people in there killing so can group up if you feel you need it. The dust and candles drop off the random mobs and you might even have all collected by the time you clear in and out of the cave. Once you are done, head back out of the Mine and back to Goldshire, stopping past Auntie Bernice to return the necklace. [10] A Fishy Peril [10] Further Concerns [10] The Jasperlode Mine [7] Shipment to Stormwind [7] Collecting Kelp Those are all the quests I collected after handing in. First, I made my way up to Stormwind as I wanted to check the Auction House for some armor, from Goldshire, take the fork on the left. To deliver the Shipment, you head into Pestle s Apothecary, the second building on your left as you enter the city. I chose the rockets personally, boom, big badda boom! After handing in the Shipment, I made my way back to Goldshire, or more precisely Crystal Lake. If you re standing in Goldshire and you look at your mini map, you should be able to see the start of the lake north east. The islands and east end are riddled with Murlocs and these vile creatures will drop the Crystal Kelp Fonds for William Pestle. I had a really good drop rate with these, all four in just five mobs. Since I was still so close to Goldshire, I quickly ran back to hand in. [7] The Escape Maybell is back at The Maclure Vineyard, where Billy is. To get the quest out of my log, I made my way there to hand in. Once done, make your way back to the main path and follow it east. Eventually you should see a tower approaching on your left, the Tower of Azora. If you head north just before the tower, you will eventually come to Jasperlode Mine. Be aware there are a few wolves and bears between the mine and the path. Once you locate the Mine, fight your way in. You only need to scout out the mine, and as such don t need to go very far in. As the mobs come singularly most times, this is a relatively easy quest. Once complete, make your way back to the path and continue east. Eventually you will come across a small bridge and Guard Thomas standing beside it. Hand in Further Concerns and pick up the next step. [10] Protect the Frontier [10] Finding the Lost Guards [10] Discover Rolf s Fate Once you have collected the quests, follow the river north, staying on the same side as Guard Thomas. Just after the waterfall, look to your left and discover your first guard sort of. Right clicking the remains on the ground will complete the first step, and give you the follow on, the search for Rolf. Face east and make your way across the water. Before we go searching for another body though, head down into Eastvale Logging Camp and pick up some quests. Note: Location of the first body is 72,60 for those that utilize titan bar or other location information mods. [9] Red Linen Goods [9] A Bundle of Trouble Heading north from Supervisor Raelen will lead you almost directly to Rolf s remains, located in the midst of Murlocs! You want to start killing your way in from the east (right hand) side. Once you can see Rolf s remains, starting clearing your way in, very carefully. This is one of the trickier quests you will do in this area, as both the murlocs loitering around the remains, as well as the ones at the hut just near it, will both be double pulls. It is doable solo, however it will require patience and perhaps a couple of runs. Thankfully Eastvale Logging Camp has a graveyard it in, something I discovered very quickly. While you re running around, keep your eyes on the base of the trees, there you will find the Bundles of wood you need. In amongst all the trees are the Prowlers and Young Forest Bears for you to kill, keeping it nice and easy to complete multiple quests at once. Once you have completed the quest at Rolf s remains, collected the medallion to return to Guard Thomas, grab the rest of your Bundles of Wood and hand those in. Don t worry too much about the Young Forest Bears if you haven t completed your kill count, you will kill them as you come across them. Make your way back to Guard Thomas, hand in and then head across to Brackwell Pumpkin Patch. Here you will find the Defias Bandits to drop the Red Linen Bandanas! Fun tip : If you re feeling hungry, mouse over the pumpkin patch and ride one! [9] Princess Must Die If you collected this quest while playing around in the Fargodeep Mine, you can complete it while gathering the Red Linen Bandanas. Wandering around Brackwell Pumpkin Patch is Princess and her entourage. Be aware before engaging her that all three pigs will agro. You can concentrate on Princess and then run (or die) to avoid killing the other two. Even if you die, you can usually make it back to Princess corpse to loot in time. Just to the left of the Brackwell Pumpkin Patch is a few Young Forest Bears so I killed those to finish off Protect the Frontier before making my way back Eastvale Logging Camp to hand in (stopping past Guard Thomas). Once done there I hearthed back to the Goldshire Inn to hand in the other quests I had completed. Note : Princess collar is handed in back at The Stonefield Farm. After handing in I was left with just speak to and a delivery quest. I did ding level 10 however, and if you re a Warlock following this, it means it s time to obtain your Voidwalker. Have a look in the Pet Quest Guides section of this forum for a write up on the quest. [10] Bounty on Murlocs After training up, I ran all the way back down to Eastvale Logging Camp to hand in [10] Cloth and Leather Armor where I also picked up this quest from Guard Thomas. The Murlocs are where you went looking for the remains of Guard Rolf and have a much better drop rate than I remember. Once I had collected my fins, I returned to Guard Thomas to hand in before making my way to the complete other end of the zone to see Deputy Rainer at the Westbrook Garrison.
[11+] Wanted : Hogger You will notice the ?? XP reward listed under Hogger this is because I didn t complete this quest. Your first elite quest, Hogger is not someone you want to take on solo unless you re prepared and confident. At level 10, he is one tough cookie. If you are wanting to try your luck For the Riverpaw Gnoll Bounty however, you want to head south from Deputy Rainer, across the path. Here you will find Riverpaw Outrunners, Runts etc they will drop your armbands. Voila, all done! Part 3 Westfall Started: Level 11 Aah Westfall As dry and barren as it is, for some reason it s one of my favorite Alliance zones. By now I start to feel as if my character is starting to get somewhere, finally out of the newbie area of Elwynn Forest, a change of scenery in front of me. You enter Westfall from the west most end of Elwynn Forest, just past the Westbrook Garrison and the area where Hogger and his gnolls inhabit. As you exit Elwynn Forest you will pass over a small bridge and have your surroundings turn from lush greens, to dry yellow and brown. Only the People''s Millitia, a volunteer military organization, rose to stand in their way, recruiting young heroes of the Alliance to strike back and regain what was stolen. This battle is still ongoing, and in the end, the only hope the people of Westfall has is to strike directly against the leaders of the Defias, in hiding somewhere deep below ground. As you enter the zone you will immediately see Verna and Farmer Fulbrow, and if you were lucky enough to have Furlbrow''s Deed drop while killing in Elwynn Forest, you can hand this into Farmer Fulbrow now. [14] Poor Old Blanchy [10] Westfall Stew From The Furlbrows, continue along the path until you see it fork, from here you want to head almost straight south through the grass to the house you can see off in the distance. Inside you will find Salma Saldean who Verna wanted you to find. You can also collect a couple of other quests while you here Note : Be sure to keep your eyes open, there will usually a sack of oats or two around the outskirts of this. You will find these scattered through out the zone. [12] Gortusk Liver Pie [13] Westfall Stew Both of these quests can be done while running around the zone and don t really need to be done in a particular area or in any order. [10] A Swift Message If you are playing a Human character, you will be able to pick up this quest from the merchant located inside Sentinel Tower. The quest line is fairly easy to follow, take Lewi s note to the gryphon master at Sentinel Hill and then purchase a flight to Stormwind. Note that you must purchase the flight and not hearthstone back, this is part of the quest line
Once back in Westfall, hand the final part back to Quartermaster Lewis. The total quest line yielded me 1890 XP. [12] The People s Militia [15] Red Leather Bandanas I decided to begin my real adventures with some Defias killing. If you head North out of Sentinel Hill, you ll come across a small patch of Defias Trappers and Smugglers, so feel free to stop and kill your way through that. That one camp won t be enough to finish the quest, but if you continue north running between The Molsen and Saldean Farms, you will come across Jangolode Mine which has more than enough. You will most likely find more Smugglers inside, or you can hang around outside for safety and wait for respawn. All of them have a chance to drop the Red Leather Bandana s, however if you don t get all 15 by the time you have your kill count, don t worry, there will be many more Defias to kill! [12] The Forgotten Heirloom Once you are done slaughtering Jangolode Mine, make your way north-east to Furlbrow s Pumpkin Farm. Inside the hut there (not the barn) you will find a closet. Inside that you will find Farmer Furlbrow s Pocket Watch. You will have one Defias guarding just outside the entrance, and usually another one inside. Along with the one inside however, you will also have Benny Blaanco who is level 15 and neither can be pulled separately. You can try sneaking up outside the hut and trying to loot the closet through the wall, but there is still a very good chance you will agro both. Although level 15, he is not that hard to take down [14] Patrolling Westfall Once you have collected your pocket watch, continue north to the cliffs that overlook the water. All along the cliff tops are little packs of Gnolls, and they drop paws you need to collect. If you head straight north from the farm and kill your way along the cliff edges to the east, you will come to where the paddocks meet the waters edge and Murlocs! The Murlocs up this end are the lowest around and have a pretty good drop rate for the eyes you need in the Westfall Stew. While you are running around the zone, be sure to kill any Goretusks and Vultures for the other parts. Okra will drop from the mechanical golems later. Once you have killed all your Defias, collected your Gnoll Paws and retrieved your pocket watch, make your way around handing in. [14] The Peoples Militia The second step in the Defias killing follows onto Looters and Pillagers. There are two main places you can go - the Defias hangout Moonbrook, or the lesser known Gold Coast Quarry. Depending on the time of day, Moonbrook can sometimes be completely over run with other players. Just like their relatives, these Defias will also drop the Red Leather Bandanas, and if you haven t already collected your 15, you will after this quest. [15] The Killing Fields Hopefully by now you re a level or two higher, and the Harvest Watchers are a little easier to take. These golems are all around the zone, with the lower level ones usually lurking in the hay piles, while the Watchers, the ones you need, roam the fields. I tend to bounce between Saldeans Farm, The Molsen Farm and Furlbrows Pumkpin Patch, all three have Watchers. If you fought at the Gold Coast Quarry for your Defias, there are also Watchers at Alexton Farmstead which is the area just near there. The Golems will also drop the Okra you need for the Westfall Stew quest, which if you have been killing Goretusks and Vultures, you can hand in. The golems also drop Hops which you will want to hold onto (only 5) to hand in later on for a separate quest, and Flasks of Oil, which is for another quest again, so hold onto 5 of these too. Note:
It s up to you if you complete it now or later, most pick up groups won t take players before level 17 or more. If you do decide to run around handing in now, feel free to take a look at the Lakeshire guide for the starting quests in that zone. If you re in the mood to run around, these can give you a nice boost to your XP. For now though, I m going to leave the remaining high level Westfall quests and make my way over to Loch Modan! Additional Quests [15] Humble Beginnings For the compass you need to head to Alexston Farmstead and into the burnt out hut there. The problem is the three defias pull right out the front, extremely difficult solo. Fear is your friend here along with any tricks you might have up your sleeve, potions, bombs etc. [16] Sander''s Hidden Treasure Obtaining this quest relies on luck or a lot of patience. The first step drops from the Murlocs along the beach. It doesn t appear to be level based as I had it drop from both the low level Murlocs while collecting my eyes, as well as the higher ones further south. A fun quest, this sends you on a treasure hunt around the zone, stopping at different places to find more clues. The footlocker is the hardest of all the items to obtain as it s half buried in the sand surrounded by level 15 or so Murlocs some with pets! If you can complete this step however, the rest is simply running around. That is mostly all that i can remember, I will edit if i can remember any more Hot Sell
